Singapore, December 11th (Xinhua)– As the first performance of the “Civilization Exchange and Progress Together – National Grand Theater Singapore, Malaysia Cultural Exchange Tour”, the production of Puccini’s opera “Gianni Schicchi” (semi-staged version) by China’s National Grand Theater recently stunningly debuted at the Esplanade Theatre on the Bay in Singapore.

The opera production by China National Grand Theater has been the highlight of this cultural exchange event, eagerly anticipated by the Singaporean audience. In 2023, which marks the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, in response to the call for high-quality cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative, China National Grand Theater, along with the China-ASEAN Center, jointly organized a series of vibrant cultural exchange activities in Singapore. The aim is to build bridges of mutual understanding and cultural exchange through the medium of art, fostering mutual learning and connectivity between civilizations.

It is reported that on the 5th of this month, artists from China National Grand Theater and their Singaporean counterparts participated in a music flash mob themed around pandas at the River Safari in Singapore, sending blessings to the giant panda “Lele” who was about to return to China and conveying China-Singapore friendship through music. On the same day, the delegation from China National Grand Theater also visited Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore to provide detailed professional guidance on stage practice for vocal students of the school’s music academy and to engage in exchange activities with local students.
On the 9th, at the Esplanade Theatre Studio in the Marina Bay area of Singapore, artists from China National Grand Theater collaborated with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra of Singapore to once again perform the original Chinese-language children’s opera “No Brains and Unhappy” by China National Grand Theater. On the 10th, the China Cultural Centre in Singapore hosted a screening of the Chinese National Theatre Drama Film “Lin Zexu”, presenting the spiritual world of national hero Lin Zexu to the audience. On the 11th, the delegation from China National Grand Theater will go to Malaysia to carry out cultural exchange activities, writing new stories of friendship.
